Back to blogging

Well, I realized that it's been about two months since I last blogged.  I was afraid that might happen. So much has been going on! Will now has two teeth, he's crawling everywhere, pulling up on everything, and he's trying to take steps when he's leaned up against something. It's amazing how quickly he's grown. He's developing a little personality, and it's so funny.
We had his six-month pictures recently, and I had to share one of my favorites. His grandad Keith gave him this cute little cowboy hat, and since he won't be able to wear it before too long, I thought we should have a few pictures made with him wearing it.

Look at that dimple!

An update about my foot: After two months of wearing that walking boot, the dr. said that all the bones in my foot were fully healed! Yay! He did say that because my foot experienced a trauma, and because all the tendons and ligaments are so short in the foot and they had been stretched/popped,  I would still feel pain for up to four months, but I can deal with that! I'm just so glad that it's behind me. I've just learned to be extra careful when walking down steps.

So it's back to cleaning house now! Looking forward to some sunshine this week!

Have a great day!

My happy boy

I didn't post anything last night because we were out a little late. We were home before 10:00, but that is considered late these days. (I remember how in college we would go bowling until midnight, then go to IHOP afterwards. Then get up and go to class the next morning. Stupid. You couldn't pay me to do that now.) Bradley, Will, and I, along with Brad's parents, went to Searcy to watch a family friend play in a Harding Academy basketball game. It as so neat for Bradley to see some of his old friends and get to show his little boy off. Will did really well. He wasn't a fan of the drums and all the noise at first, but got used to it pretty quickly.

Afterwards we went to Luigi's, which I love, and it was so good. I stepped out of my comfort zone of ordering chicken tortellini alfredo, and ordered lobster ravioli. I loved it! Will has gotten to where he can sit up pretty well now, as long as he's got something near him. I can't just set him down in the floor and walk off yet - he's still a little wobbly there. But last night for the first time, we put him in a high chair in a restaurant. It was so funny! He kept trying to put his hands in his daddy's and grandpa's salad (which he finally did), he played the drop-my-toy-in-the-floor-so-daddy-will-pick-it-up-for-me game, and he grinned and "talked" to us the whole time. I just kept looking at him in his restaurant high chair and thinking about how big he's gotten and how he's getting such a sweet, happy personality.

Yesterday, before going out, I had my foot propped up in the recliner and Will was sitting in my lap playing with his phone. I was watching Everybody Loves Raymond. It's just about my favorite show for a lot of reasons, but mainly Frank and Marie. They crack me up. Anyway, I laughed out loud at the show, and Will looked up at me. This happened two more times, and on the third time he laughed at me when I laughed. So I laughed back at him. He laughed back at me, and so on. We sat there and laughed at each other for ten minutes and the more we laughed the harder we laughed. I have to tell you, that baby has the most precious laugh I've ever heard! It melts my heart! I just enjoyed hearing him laugh like that so much that I had to write about it so I wouldn't forget it. I just love to see his big grin with those dimples. But now I hear him waking up from his nap by blowing raspberries, so I gotta go!

One of the first times I caught that dimpled smile on camera - 2 months old.

Have a great day!

Spaghetti and Meatballs and Wheel of Fortune

This title sums up the best part of my day today. I'm getting around a lot better today - so much so that I decided to cook supper. My mom had brought over some delicious chicken and dumplings and Mexican chicken on Sunday so that I wouldn't have to worry about cooking this week, but we've eaten a lot of it and, well, we were ready for something different. So I cooked spaghetti and meatballs. I rarely do that because it takes time to roll them out and then cook them, but I just had a craving for them. Just about the time that dinner was ready, Wheel of Fortune came on. This is, and has been for years, Bradley's and my favorite show to watch together. We get pretty competitive! So we ate up front and tried to watch the show, but Will was in such a good mood that he squealed and entertained us the entire time and we barely watched the show. To be so little, he's so funny! I really do cherish those little moments.

But like I said, I'm getting around much better. I just have to remember to put my foot up and rest after I am on it for a little while. I just don't want to overdo it.

I'm watching Julie and Julia right now, and it's at the part where Julia and her sister Dorothy are having lunch. They keep making jokes about how tall they are and it makes me laugh because I know exactly how they feel. Catherine and I always used to joke/laugh/commiserate about our height. I just wonder how tall Julia Childs was in real life. I just googled it. She was 6 foot 2. Ok, so Cat and I don't know EXACTLY how that feels.

So not much else happened today, just the usual, but that's fine by me! Now, it's time for some sleep!

First blog!

I'm finally going to blog! I'm still learning how to do this, but I see so many other neat blogs out there, and when I read them I think, "I should do that." So here I am, blogging, and hoping that I enjoy it and keep up with it. I've never been the best at keeping up with journals, but there are so many things going on around me now that I don't want to forget, so I've got to come up with a way to document what's going on, plus I can share it with family and friends that I don't get to see very often!

So today is January 13, 2011 - almost two weeks into the new year. Bradley and I just celebrated our two-year anniversary, and at the end of this month our little William will be six months old. Wow! Time just goes so fast! Do you see why I want to remember these times? For example, Saturday, I visited a friend and as I was walking down the steps in her carport, I fell....and ended up fracturing my foot in three places. Yuck. Now I'm sore and in a walking boot for 4-6 weeks. Thankfully, God has blessed me with a wonderful, helpful husband, along with a great mom, mother-in-law, and grandma to take care of us.  Plus, Will is at the stage where he pops up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth like he's about to crawl, and I was so anxious so see him do it, but now I'm hoping he'll hold off on it for a little while because I'm not ready to start chasing him all over the house!

It's very much past my bedtime, so I will call it quits for my first blog. Goodnight everyone!
